Service Description: The Board of Assessors is responsible for maintaining all appraised values for property tax purposes at current market levels as of each January 1. Annual preparation of the tax rolls and tax rate setting are primary services. To this end, deed, building permit and field review information is collected. Sales, property characteristic, ownership, legal description and mapping files are created for valuation development and public information purposes. The Board of Assessors also administers statutory agricultural, charitable and property tax exemption programs as well as property tax and motor vehicle abatement services.
Effective July 1, 2013 responsibility for managing the Winchendon Assessors' Office will be passed to Associate Regional Assessor Jeff Reynolds and Regional Assessor Harald Scheid. An administrative assistant remains to be named. During our transition period, administrative assistance will be provided by the Tax Collector's office.
