The Town of Winchendon is poised and eager to welcome new commercial and industrial businesses with open arms. Towards this end, in 2004, the town established the Winchendon Redevelopment Authority (WRA).
The Winchendon Redevelopment Authority (WRA) is more than just a redevelopment authority -- it is the Town of Winchendon's primary economic development agency.
Our goals are to create jobs, increase the town's tax base, and improve the vitality of businesses, neighborhoods, and the town's quality of life and culture as a whole.
In many communities across the nation, the activities carried out by the WRA are administered by a variety of different agencies. In Winchendon, these activities are administered under one umbrella: the WRA.
These activities include local, state, and Federal development incentive programs utilized by communities across Massachusetts and the United States. These programs represent critical economic development tools and the WRA is comitted to making these tools work for the town of Winchendon.
The WRA works closely with the Winchendon Department of Planning and Development and other local economic development partners including regional, state and federal agencies to retain existing businesses and to attract new businesses in town.
The WRA-uses its public powers and creativity to harness private investment. It is experienced in permitting, assembling financial packages, grant applications & local tax relief proposals to help businesses get started or grow in Winchendon. We would like the chance to show your business why growing and/or locating in Winchendon makes sense to you and your employees.
There are five WRA board members. Four of the five are appointed by the Town Manager and the fifth member is appointed by the Governor at the recommendation of the Town Manager. The current board members are:
Beth Hunt (State appointment)
Shiela Donofrio (Vice chair)
David Connor
