Water Meter Replacement Program

August 31, 2009

PUBLIC NOTICE
Water Meter Replacement Program
Town of Winchendon, Massachusetts

The Town of Winchendon has implemented a “Water Meter Replacement Program” to more effectively serve water system customers. Old water meters will be replaced with new, remote reading water meters. Customers who currently have an outside reader on their home, will be upgraded to the new remote readers as well. When the installation process is complete, customers will be relieved of the responsibility of reading their own meter or the need for Water Department personnel to enter homes/business to read the meter.

The Town has contracted United Water to do the meter installations which will begin August 27th, 2009. Customers will not be billed for this service. All United Water employees installing meters will have visible photo identification. If anyone has concerns regarding the identification of personnel, feel free to call the Winchendon Town Hall at (978) 297-0170 or the local police at (978) 297-1212 to verify.

Water service customers will be receiving flyers with detailed information.

The Town of Winchendon and United Water appreciate customer cooperation and support. The “Water Meter Replacement Program” will allow the Town to better serve water customers in providing a quality water service.

Thank You.

James Kreidler, Town Manager
Michael Murphy, DPW Director
