The Department of Public Works has finalized the roads that will be repaved this summer. In June Public Works Director Al Gallant recommended Old County Road, Tucker Street, Whitney Street and Willoughby Avenue be paved to the Board of Selectmen. The recent paving bid results revealed a significant savings in asphalt costs allowing some additional roads to be repaved this summer. Those roads are Oakland Street, Eastern Avenue, Hall Road and North Central Street from Central to the end of pavement and from Forestall Road to end of pavement.
The list of roads recommended to be repaved were generated initially from a new road management software program. The program considers a number of variables when generating a road list such as traffic counts and current road condition.
