Dear Members of the Winchendon Schools Community,
I want to thank all of you for the continued support so many have shown as the district attempts to navigate this rapidly evolving situation around COVID-19. At this time, Winchendon Public Schools, in consultation with area districts, has made the decision to close school for at least the next two weeks, from March 16, 2020, through March 27, 2020.
Early next week, we will send guidance about learning activities that families and students can engage in to keep our students on track for success. Additionally, the district will work with our Food Services Director and others to put nutrition services in place while schools are closed.
The purpose of this school closure is to slow the spread of the COVID-19 virus so that our health system is in the best possible position to care for people who become sick. To this end, I strongly encourage all families and students to follow public health guidelines, including the guidance to frequently wash hands and to practice social distancing.
Joan Landers, Superintendent
