Letter from Superintendent Landers:
Thursday, March 12, 2020
Yesterday I communicated with you that a member of the high school staff had potentially been exposed to the COVID-19 virus. I have now received medical documentation demonstrating that the high school staff member DID NOT, in fact, come into contact with COVID-19. We will continue to put the health and safety of our students, staff, and community at the forefront of our decision-making.
We will resume our regular school schedule on Monday, March 16th.
The School Committee will hold its regularly-scheduled meeting this evening at 6 p.m., and it will be viewable on local T.V.
Wednesday, March 11, 2020
The district has been informed that a staff member has been in contact with someone who potentially has the Coronavirus.
Out of an abundance of caution and with the health and welfare of our students and staff in mind, I am canceling school and all school events, including parent-teacher conferences, effective immediately.
No staff should report to school until further notice.
Please visit our website for further notice and the most up-to-date information regarding the Coronavirus and this situation.
The staff member that was potentially exposed to the Coronavirus is employed at the high school. The decision was made to close all schools tomorrow for precautionary cleaning. As per the Commissioner of Education, this school day cancellation will not need to be made up at the end of the school year, see below for additional details.
The Superintendent will send out a One Call message to the school community on Friday afternoon with an update. Our intent is to reopen schools as soon as possible.
Please check the School Department website periodically for updates.
