Inclement Weather Policy for Senior Center

Inclement Weather Policy

Senior Center & Community Connector Program

The safety of riders and participants is our top priority during inclement weather, including snowstorms, ice, extreme cold, or other hazardous conditions. The information below explains how programs and transportation may be affected.

1. School Closures

When local public schools are closed due to weather:

  • The Senior Center building is closed to the public for programs and services.
  • Transportation services remain available, unless otherwise noted below.

When schools open late or close early:

  • The Senior Center and Community Connector programs may open late or close early.
  • Transportation services remain available, unless otherwise noted below.

2. Town Hall Closures

  • If Town Hall is closed due to weather, the Senior Center will also be closed.
  • If Town Hall has a delayed opening or early closure, the Senior Center may adjust hours accordingly.

3. Transportation & Community Connector Services

  • If the Senior Center building is closed, transportation to and from the Senior Center is canceled.
  • Other Community Connector rides may continue as scheduled, depending on conditions.
  • If a State of Emergency is declared, all Community Connector transportation services are canceled.
  • Inclement weather may cause delays, route changes, or service disruptions during major storms.

4. Service Decisions & Communication

  • Final decisions regarding closures, delays, or transportation changes are made by the Senior Center Director, based on weather conditions, public safety guidance, and transit availability.
  • Decisions prioritize rider safety while making every effort to maintain essential transportation services when possible.
  • Riders are encouraged to check the Town website, official social media pages, or posted notices for the most up-to-date service information before traveling during inclement weather.
  • Riders should allow extra travel time during inclement weather and be prepared for possible delays.
  • In rare or severe weather situations, services may be suspended regardless of school or municipal closures to protect public safety.
